Danielle’s Coffee Recipe

Name - Espresso Danielle

Description - Small, Sweet Spicy, Aromatic, intense & full bodied

How it came about - I came up with this drink as my Signature beverage, when I entered the 2006 UK Barista Championships. I was told it received the highest score ever throughout the World Barista championships up to that point. I was working at Rick Steins at the time, so had lots of inspiration around me.

Ingredients -
Condensed Milk
Spices - Turmeric, Chilli, Cardamon & Cinnamon Freshly Ground Burwarton Espresso Blend
Dark Chocolate

Equipment -
Muslin Cloth
Food safe String
Mini Box Grater
Espresso Glasses
Espresso Machine or Coffee Maker

Make spice bag - Add a small pinch of each spice to the centre of approx 3cm x 3cm cut out square muslin cloth.
Bring all the corners together & tie with the food safe string.

Making the drink:

  1. Add 1 dessertspoon (or to taste) of condensed milk to the espresso glass

  2. lay your ready made spice bag on top with the string outside the glass so its easy to remove

  3. Add your correctly made espresso (see Danielle’s Coffee for details)

  4. Top with grated Dark chocolate & lime zest

  5. Remove the bag when you are happy with the spice strength

  6. Stir & enjoy
