Meet the Producer: La Triestina

Share this:

La Triestina is a small family run all Italian business based in Shropshire, specialising in selling and marketing their Region’s best products: Friuli Venezia Giulia, an undiscovered gem lying between the Adriatic Sea and the Carso Highlands in the far east of Italy. A familiar and popular face at the Food Festival, we interviewed Mia and Melody for our Meet the Producer blog series.

Tell us what readers can expect when they find you at the Ludlow Food Festival?

Behind our stand you will find passionate, friendly people happy to give advice about our products whilst offering yummy samples of our hard cheese, salame, prosecco and balsamic vinegars along with our gluten free pasta and amazing strong espresso ground beans.

How did you start?

3 years ago in our home town of Trieste in Italy, sat outside a bar whilst having a glass of prosecco and a shot of espresso, we wanted to share our passion and knowledge of good food to the British consumer and promote our region Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Do you have a favourite product? If so, why?

We love our aged balsamic vinegar especially our 12 year old balsamic, it tastes amazing and it is so versatile, can be used for cooking or as we use it on strawberries and ice cream. It is produced by a very close friend of the family, so it is artisan made with no artificial sugars or preservative just PURE. You need to taste it to understand it.

 La Triestina Balsamic Vinegar

Do you have a best-selling product? Why do you think this is?

Our Montano cheese as it resembles parmesan but more smoother and our aged balsamic vinegars are our bestselling product, mainly because they are both versatile can be used for many dishes, but they are also not available in shops or supermarkets and customers likes this uniqueness.
