5 MINUTES WITH ELLY CURSHEN

What are you most looking forward to at Ludlow Food Festival?

Jumping in the river for a swim after my demo!

What’s your top tip for seasonal produce in September?

Enjoy all the incredible produce while you can – tomatoes in particular. It’ll soon be Autumn!

What’s your best food hack/top shortcut? e.g. freeze ripe bananas, learn to use a knife properly

Whenever I buy a loaf of bread, I immediately slice it up and freeze it then toast straight from frozen. I blitz the end crusts up into breadcrumbs and freeze them too. Zero waste!

What’s your store cupboard essential/the one ingredient you couldn’t live without?

Sea salt flakes

What’s your current favourite recipe?

I’ve been making lots of savoury granola recently, to sprinkle over salads and on eggs etc. I love stocking up with little pots of magical additions like that – it really speeds up weeknight cooking and makes impressive weekend brunches easy.
