Elisabeth Luard

Elisabeth Luard is an award-winning food writer who often illustrates her own work. Her most recent publication, a food-and-travel memoir, Squirrel Pie and Other Stories , is out in paperback from Bloomsbury in July 2017, a companion volume to Family Life, Still Life and My Life as a Wife (also Bloomsbury). Previous publications include European Peasant Cookery, European Seasonal Dishes and Tapas (all in print with Grub Street). Other work includes The Food of Spain and Portugal, The Latin American Kitchen, Sacred Food and Truffles, plus a couple of best-selling doorstopper novels, Emerald and Marguerite.

Elisabeth has lived and worked in Latin America, Spain, Italy and France and brought up her own young family in a remote valley in Andalucia. She now lives in an old farmhouse in the foothills of the Cambrians, ten miles inland from Aberystwyth, but continues to travel widely. She contributes regularly to newspapers and magazines (including The Oldie, Daily Mail, Country Living, Daily Telegraph, Times, TLS and Country Life) as well as on-line publications in the UK and US. She’s a Trustee of The Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery and was awarded The Guild of Foodwriters Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Elisabeth's website is elisabethluard.com and she contributes under her own name to Twitter and Facebook.
